CUIB President encourages collaboration amongst stakeholders as the university ends its budgetary meeting.

The President of CUIB, Professor  Victor Julius Ngoh, has called on Deans, Directors, Coordinators and unit Heads within the institution to be more collaborative and efficient in using the resources of the university that will enable it to meet up with its beloved Mission and Vision.

He was speaking on Wednesday 21st April 2021 in Buea during a budgetary meeting to evaluate and harmonize the 2020/2021 budget of the university across the Buea and Douala campuses to enable the university stakeholders meet up with their individual objectives on teaching, research, professionalisation and outreach.

During the meeting, the president who was also accompanied by the executive vice president and the Provost pointed out some aspects which he thought could have been considered  in the consolidated budget that was presented. He suggested that the budgets needed to be more realistic and feasible amidst the challenging covid-19 pandemic which has affected the economy across the globe.

He also appreciated the honest and frank discussion which occurred during the meeting and reminded the members that only collaboration and teamwork can push CUIB forward, while stressing on the need for members to be accountable and prudent in using university resources.

Professor Ngoh noted that the university is not a government institution which does not rely on state subventions. Thus, he urged the directors, unit heads, deans and coordinators to look for ways to generate income that will help in the execution of some activities within the university.

In the course of the two-hour budgetary session, the Chief Academic Officer Dr. Asobo Napoleon highlighted to members the importance of drawing up a realistic budget and pointed out that CUIB must succeed. He told the members that they must be fully committed to CUIB’s mission and vision and must also use the available resources diligently.

Concluding the budgetary session, Professor Victor Julius Ngoh enjoined the Finance Division to go back to the drawing board and make some proposed adjustments.
