CUIB was blessed to have Mrs. Imbolo  Mbue  Cameroonian born US citizen and author of the book “Behold the Dreamers” as the first guest speaker for the second semester for the 2017/2018 school year.

A book the New York Times described as A dissection of the American Dream…savage and compassionate in all the right places.” 

The book “Behold the Dreamers” has been endorsed by popular reality TV presenter Oprah Winfrey as one of the best book that explains existing realities of immigrants.

Imbolo Mbue told the  CUIB students that “Be true to your values, have confident in yourself, work hard and see all challenges as opportunities and you will end up being successful”

During her presentation, Imbolo Mbue pointed out to the students that life has lots of challenges especially when you are not in your home country. But what gives you the ability to overcome them is passion.

“Once you have the passion you will overcome all your challenges” she told the students and the university community.

The President of CUIB, Rev. Fr. George Nkeze in his concluding remarks, appreciated Mrs. Imbolo Mbue for her brilliant presentation to the students and stated that Imbolo’s experience will help shape the lives of CUIB students.

Rev. Fr. George appreciated the US Embassy for inviting Imbolo Mbue to the Catholic University Institute of Buea.
