CUIB: The Joy of Nurturing young Entrepreneurs.

In 2017, the Catholic University Institute of Buea gave birth to a pupil academy captioned CUIB Elementary Entrepreneurial Academy – The Academy of Talents (CUIB A&T). As the name depicts, this academy aims at schooling young children on entrepreneurship which gives them the capacity to not only to start companies when they are still very young but also to think creatively and ambitiously.

Starting with an enrollment of 250, the academy has grown in number and peculiarity as its entrepreneurial aspect becomes more visibly present in the kids who move from one academic year to the other.

Recently the pupils of the Academy of Talents exhibited their works as they came together to review their entrepreneurial activities. These kids of the nursery, lower and higher primary have been able to design drums, houses, slippers, and many more from basic materials they find around them. This entrepreneurial culture of education in CUIB A&T, goes a long way to help pupils to think outside the box and nurtures unconventional talents and skills which will create opportunities, ensure social justice, instill confidence and stimulate the economy in the nearest future.

While society innovates, CUIB is equally modernizing to ensure that she graduates also at the elementary level, the doers, makers and cutting-edge thinkers the world needs. This is the CUIB,s joy in nurturing children entrepreneurs.

This academic year 2018/2019, CUIB expanded from the elementary level, to creating the CUIB Entrepreneurial High school- The STEAM Academy. This Academy is designed to focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics and will continue training its elementary graduates in entrepreneurship while preparing them for the university’s entrepreneurial education. This educational circle put in place by CUIB seeks to guarantee continuity in entrepreneurial education from the elementary level to the high school level and then the university level.

For effectiveness, CUIB this school year, opened its doors to students of form one only for the CUIB Entrepreneurial High school and will in the years ahead enroll students into higher classes.
