Christians of the Corpus Christi Parish at the Catholic University Institute of Buea joined other Roman Catholic Christians all over the world on Sunday 3rd of June 2018 to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, a feast that originated in 1246.
Corpus Christi Feast is a day set aside to celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, in which the Christians celebrates the actual Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist that is Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.
The Event at the Catholic University Institute of Buea began with a Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Cliford Funji who reiterated to the Catholic Christians the importance of the Eucharist as it is the greatest prayer of the church during which the heavens and the earth celebrates together.
Equally present during the mass was Rev. Fr. Njoh Moses campus director of CUIB, Rev.Fr. George Nkeze President of the Catholic University Institute of Buea and founder of the Catholic Berakah Ministry, staff, Faculty, students of CUIB and Christians of the Corpus Christi Parish.
The mass was concluded by benediction in which the ministers of God and the Christian Faithful have had moments of adoration at the Blessed Sacrament with our lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Part two of the program was followed by celebration and feasting where by the Christian’s shared common meal with one another as a sign of communion.
Speaking to the Christians and the university community Rev. Fr. George Nkeze highlighted the importance of celebrating the feast by the University. He stated that the University foundation is built on the Eucharist reason why the name of the parish carries Corpus Christi Parish.
Rev. Fr George ended by appreciating the efforts of all presents and enjoined them to always keep their faith higher and keep trusting in God almighty.
