Lecturers of the Catholic University Institute of Buea on Tuesday 20th March 2018 rounded up a two day training seminar on Staff training and development program under the theme “Enhancing Entrepreneurial Teaching Approach: Models, Tools, and Techniques.
The two days seminar which took place at the campus of the university had as trainers Rev Fr. Michel Ngantchop seminar coordinator, Rev. Fr. George Nkeze Jingwa CUIB president, and Eyong Eyong Thaddeus; who schooled the participants on enhancing entrepreneurial teaching and approach in CUIB.
During the seminar Rev. Fr. George Nkeze Jingwa gave a lecture captioned “Re-thinking Education in a Transform Landscape Based on modeling hands-on- learning”.
He told the lecturers that this is an era for them to rethink new strategies on how to better lecture their students so as to overcome modern day challenges in a transformed landscape marked with lots of challenges such as political, economic, social and technological challenges.
He pointed out that education must be based on hands on learning in which the students have to be at the center of it; that is the teachers must understand that they exist because of the students hence, CUIB lecturers must intensify their efforts on teaching the students so that they become the best version of themselves which is what CUIB playbook stands for.
Rev.Fr George Nkeze reminded the lecturers that CUIB play book is to train the students so that they become the best version of themselves and the students come first.
Rev. Fr. George Nkeze Jingwa concluded by appreciating the lecturers of CUIB for their handwork and constant contribution to the lives of the students and the growth of CUIB. He also stressed on the need for lecturers to constantly review their ways as time changes and above all, should always work as a team for the growth of the institution.
Speaking to the trainees, the seminar coordinator Rev. Fr. Michel Ngantchop reiterated the importance of sustaining entrepreneurial learning at CUIB especially in a nation where most youths have cultivated the “matricule” syndrome but ends up getting frustrated since they can’t find a job.
Rev. Fr. Michel Ngantchop stated that CUIB the Entrepreneurial University has impacted the lives of young Cameroonians who can now be proud of being self-employed thanks to the training they got from CUIB the Entrepreneurial University.
Rev. Fr. Michel Ngantchop in the final day of the seminar briefed the lecturers on the scope and objective of student’s research in hands-on-learning as far as 21st century entrepreneurship is concern.
The two day interactive seminar ended with lecturers empowered to kick start the second semester.
