Catholic University Institute of Buea Holds 28th Senate Meeting, Celebrates Successful first semester Exams

The President of the Catholic University Institute of Buea Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Anyanwu, has appreciated the faculty and staff for successfully organizing the first semester examinations for the 2024-2025 academic year. This was during the 28th Senate meeting, which was held at the CUIB main campus in Molyko Buea at Ngongi’s Hall on Friday 21st March 2025, bringing together representatives of the University of Buea, who are the mentor university of CUIB.
Rev. Fr. Anyanwu continued in his opening remarks to call on faculty and staff members to look for new ways to engage students and to fight against corruption. He re-echoed the theme of the rectors of Catholic universities in Cameroon, which was discussed in a meeting that took place in Yaoundé, where the rectors called on Catholic Universities to intensify the fight against corruption in their institutions.

During the deliberations, the results were presented by the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Research, and Corporation, Dr. Felicitas Atabong Mokom. During the presentation of the results, Dr. Felicitas Mokom highlighted the conditions under which the exams were written. Being the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Research, and Corporation, she articulated that the exams were held under serene conditions.
As per the general results, she noted that the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources registered 87.4%, while the School of Information Technology recorded 78.5%. The School of Engineering registered 84.5%, the School of Journalism and Communication recorded 90.1%, the School of Law recorded 72.2%, the School of Health Sciences recorded 77.6%, 85.5 % School of Business and Catholic Studies recorded 84.0%.

The representative of the University of Buea, Professor Njock Thomas, appreciated the Catholic University Institute of Buea, saying that CUIB is a professional institution that has been able to establish its mark at the level of entrepreneurship. He noted that the university has contributed greatly to shaping the minds and hearts of Cameroonians and called on the university authorities to continue working in close collaboration with the University of Buea.
His colleague, Professor Jane Francis of the University of Buea, also appreciated the CUIB-UB mentorship agreement and noted that the Catholic University Institute of Buea is an institution that is always there to assist students and bring out the best version of them.
The general percentage for MBA programmes was 97.5%. Also, during the Senate meeting, there was a representative of the Regional Delegation of Public Health in the South-West Region. His remarks were very outstanding, as he noted that the Catholic University Institute of Buea is the only school that has invited them to come to their Senate meeting to see how they can carry out and analyze results. He appreciated the way CUIB trains its students. The results are now pending publication by the office of exams and records.
