The 2025/2026 academic year officially commenced with a deeply spiritual Convocation Mass at the Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB) Douala Campus.
A key message delivered during the homily by His Lordship Michael Bibi, Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor of CUIB, resonated strongly with the university community:
”Be humble, always put God first at the center of what you do, because all you have is a gift from God. You must maintain your Christian identity in all you do.”

A Year of Success and Dedication

Bishop Bibi opened his address by giving thanks for the past academic year, emphasizing that all successes recorded were thanks to the grace of the Almighty God. He further elaborated on the theme of gratitude and humility, stating:
”All that we have are gifts from God. Our institution is a gift from God, and that is why we must always be humble and acknowledge God in our lives.”
”We have come together to thank God for the success registered within the last academic year.”

The Chancellor acknowledged the hard work that contributed to these achievements. He expressed profound appreciation to the President, faculty, and staff members of CUIB for their dedication to the mission and vision of the institution.

Encouragement for the New Academic Year

Looking ahead, Bishop Bibi issued several calls to action for the CUIB community:
Collaboration: He encouraged faculty and staff to work closely with students to produce more graduates “who will be able to bear witness” to the university’s values.
Appreciation: He also extended his gratitude to parents for entrusting their children to CUIB and appreciated the students for accepting to be part of the CUIB family.

Student Focus

Finally, he called on students to be dedicated to their activities and to take their learning process seriously. The Bishop specifically pointed out the importance of students always being present in class and participating in all school activities
