CUIB Douala Student Government Campaigns Officially Launched

The 2025 Student Government campaigns at the Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB) Douala Campus were officially launched today, marking the beginning of the election cycle. ​The campaign launch ceremony was spearheaded by the Director of the CUIB Douala Campus, Dr. Ngamgoum Eric, accompanied by the Director of Student Affairs, Miss Lipong Christell.
Two Parties Vie for Leadership
​Two political parties are participating in this year’s election:

African Progress Alliance (APA): Led by Presidential Candidate Etta Etta Alfred. ​Continuum Generation Party (CG): Led by Presidential Candidate Kamdem Tchuendem Leona. ​Etta Alfred Wins First Presidential Debate ​The second part of the launch ceremony featured the first presidential debate. In the scoring, Etta Etta Alfred of the APA secured a win with a score of 20/30, while Kamdem Tchuendem Leona of the CGP received a score of 15/30. ​Administration Cautions Students on Ethics.

During his address, Campus Director Dr. Ngamgoum Eric encouraged students to participate actively in the electoral process but cautioned them against engaging in any form of fighting or unethical practices. ​He stressed that student leadership is a collaborative role, requiring the elected leader to work closely with the administration to provide the best holistic experience for students.

​”CUIB is a Catholic institution,” Dr. Ngamgoum reminded the students, “and thus, whoever wins must work in line with the values of the University in organizing their activities.” ​The Director of Student Affairs, Miss Lipong Christell, called on students to maintain respectful conduct. She further clarified the functions of the student government and outlined the acceptable boundaries during the campaign period. ​The campaign period will feature a second presidential debate and one vice-presidential debate before concluding.
