Some Private Universities praise CUIB’s Chancellor/Pro-Chancellor for organizing the Chancellor’s Decathlon

Some private universities in the South West Region of Cameroon have appreciated His Lordship Michael Bibi, the Chancellor/Pro-Chancellor of the Catholic University Institute of Buea, the Growth Mindset Entrepreneurial University. The praises came as a result of the Chancellor/Pro-Chancellor’s initiative for organizing mini sports competition to enable their students showcase their different talents and skills in the domain of sports.
The Chancellor’s Decathlon was a two-day event which took place on Wednesday 10 May and Thursday 11 May 2023 at the Molyko sports complex and brought together students, faculty and staff from CUIB, Saint Monica University,CHITECHMA University, and Pan Africa University Institute of Buea .
The Chancellor’s s Decathlon was proudly sponsored by Source Du Pays who provided water, soft drinks, T-shirts and had activities such as Handball, Volleyball, Long Jump, Sprinting, Football, Egg Race, Eating competition, Tug of war, Push-ups, Basketball, Sac-Race, Dodging and Ball dropping
Joy. Celebration and love could be seen on the faces of students, faculty and staff as they participated in the different games. The objective of the Chancellor’s s Decathlon was to enable private universities which did not have resources to go for the just ended University Games to showcase the talents and sporting skills of their students.
The President of CUIB Prof. Victor Julius Ngoh, in his opening remark, appreciated the three private universities for accepting the invitation of CUIB to participate in the Chancellor’s Decathlon and said such an initiative is to bring the universities together and to enable them to share their experience as Higher Institutions of learning.
He cautioned all stakeholders to exhibit good sportsmanship as at the end, there will be no winners or losers since it is more of a friendly game aimed at celebrating excellence amongst the four universities.

Pan African University Institute won the football category after defeating CHETEMA University in the finals on Thursday during post-penalties, while CUIB came third as they were defeated at the knockout stage 2-1. CUIB won the 400 meter sprinting, Handball boys, Volleyball, but at the level of Basketball, CUIB were defeated by CHETEMA University.
There was also a football encounter between CUIB Douala Campus against CUIB Buea Campus and after 90 minutes of play the boys from Douala campus won 1-0.

During the award of prizes, the representative of Pan Africa University Institute congratulated the Chancellor/Pro-Chancellor of CUIB for organizing such a competition and noted that it will go a long way to increase cooperation between the participating universities who are not competing against one another.
At the closing ceremony Prof. Ngoh thanked the members of the organizing committee for a successful organization and reiterated that the aim was not to have a winner but to promote talent development amongst the four private universities hoping that others will join the initiative for the 2023/2024 school year.

He concluded by acknowledging the support of the main sponsor Source du Pays for gracing the Chancellor’s Decathlon.
