The Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB) held its Career Orientation Day on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, at its Buea Campus under the theme “Empowering Students for Employability, Entrepreneurship and Career Success.” A similar activity also took place at the university’s Douala–Bonaberi Campus, extending the career development initiative to students across both campuses.
The Buea programme opened with a prayer, followed by welcome remarks from the President of CUIB, Dr. Mokom A. Felicitas, who highlighted the importance of preparing students for career success.
Three distinguished speakers addressed the students. Sir George Babila Nfon, CEO of Crown Homes Holdings, spoke on entrepreneurship, innovation, employability skills and internship opportunities. Mrs. Ndile Bridget, Chief of Service for Reception and Orientation at the National Employment Fund (NEF), discussed career readiness and workplace expectations. Dr. Erysmary, founder of EMMI EMPIRE 501(c), Youth Connekt Ambassador, author, coach and speaker, emphasised the power of a smile in the workplace. She encouraged students to identify problems faced by their peers and transform them into business opportunities.
The event featured exhibition stands hosted by Jungo Hub, Pick-up, ANTIC, the National Employment Fund, NFC Bank, Crown Homes Holdings, EMMI EMPIRE, Wisdom Foundation and CREMA Africa. These organisations engaged students through networking, service presentations and career exploration.
The programme concluded with closing remarks from CUIB Vice President, Rev. Fr. Michael M. Kengnjoh, reaffirming the importance of career guidance, entrepreneurship and professional development in preparing students for the world of work.
