CUIB Launches 2024/25 Club Activities with Enthusiasm
The Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB) officially launched its 2024/2025 club activities on Wednesday, November 5, 2024, in a lively ceremony attended by students, faculty, and staff. The event, held on the university’s Buea campus, highlighted CUIB’s dedication to building a vibrant and engaging student community.
In his opening remarks, CUIB President, Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Anyanwu, praised the impressive turnout and urged students to actively engage in university-organized activities. He emphasized that participation in these initiatives is crucial for personal and professional development beyond academic life. Mrs. Nangmo Marceline Basebang, Coordinator of Student Affairs, echoed this sentiment, describing the event as a demonstration of CUIB’s commitment to fostering a community where students can pursue their passions and develop essential skills.
The ceremony featured a parade that showcased various clubs, including Robotics, Sports, Dance, Choir, Music, Forex, Health, Fan, Public Speaking, Fashion and Modelling, and Catering. Following the parade, club leaders presented their objectives and planned activities for the year. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and were entertained by student performances that included playback music and arm-wrestling contest.
This event was taking place simultanuously at the CUIB Douala Campus, under the leadership of Dr. Ngangoum Eric, Director of the Douala Campus, accompanied by Madam Lipong Christel, Director of Student Affairs, alongside deans, coordinators, faculty, and staff.
Dr. Ngangoum warmly welcomed the newly admitted students, commending their choice to join CUIB Douala campus. He also expressed appreciation for returning students, acknowledging their engagement in various school activities. “Getting involved in clubs is not just about extracurricular participation; it’s about building a community and enhancing your personal growth,” he stated, encouraging all students to actively join clubs that resonate with their interests. Madam Lipong expanded on the significance of clubs at CUIB, explaining how these clubs can foster personal development, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging. “Participating in clubs is a vital part of your enhances your academic journey,” she emphasized.
This launch marks an exciting beginning to the academic year at CUIB, reinforcing the institution’s mission to provide growth mindset entrepreneurial education.
