Students of the Catholic University Institute of Buea have been inspired to always have the “Never Give Up Spirit” during periods of uncertainty and economic hardship. The Inspirational talk was made by Mr. Erika Lindou during the 2nd colloquium guest speaker event organized in December 2017.
The guest speaker Mr. Erika Lindou  in his presentation, outlined seven core principles to survive during period of uncertainty and economic hardship which he beliefs if implemented will contribute to the lives of the students and the university community as a whole.
Some of these principles include:
Make peace with God: He told the students, staff and faculty that the first step to the journey of success during periods of uncertainty and economic hardship is to make peace with God by putting God at the center of any decision or policy they may want to embark on.
He further mentioned the Hate and Laziness Mindset and according to Mr. Erika Lindou the greatest threat to a man’s life is laziness which retards the ability to take action at the right time. Mr. Erika Lindou pointed out to the students that if they hate laziness their lives will be better because laziness makes a man not to take action at the appointed time. “A lazy man cannot succeed in life because he will always have things that will discourage him not to take action so you have to hate laziness” Mr. Erika Lindou told the students.
In addition, he encouraged students to sometimes Work without Salary as a sign of appreciation to God, Take on new Opportunities and inculcate the “Never give up spirit” in other to succeed.
Mr. Erika Lindou concluded his motivational talk by indicating to the university community that the common denominator to succeed in life amidst economic hardship and social crisis is discipline.
CUIB management on their part applauded the Guest speaker and encouraged students to live by these values and make their stay in CUIB and the community better.
The third guest speaker event for the 2017/2018 academic year has been scheduled for January 2018.
