CUIB 2017/2018 Convocation Ceremony

Over 300 freshmen of the Catholic University Institute of Buea have been called upon to be serious in their learning by thinking out of the box in this challenging period of the history of Cameroon and to obey the rules and regulations binding the university.

The call was made by the President of the university Rev. Fr. Dr. George Nkeze on Friday November 17th 2017 during the convocation ceremony of the freshmen of CUIB and pupils of the CUIB Elementary Entrepreneurial Academy (CUIB A&T) for the 2017/2018 school year.

The three in one event which took place at the CUIB Molyko campus, witnessed the celebration of a thanks giving Mass, convocation ceremony of students of the University and pupils of CUIB A & T as well as Parent’s Day. The event had in attendance, faculty, staff, students of CUIB, Pupils of A & T, parents and stakeholders of CUIB.

The thanksgiving Mass aimed at thanking God for his blessings in the just ended academic year 2016/2017 and thanking him for the successful beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year. At the mass the freshmen and pupils were told to put God Almighty at the center of their lives so as to succeed in their career. Above all to love one another as Christ loves them.

Welcoming the University community, the President of CUIB Rev. Fr. George Nkeze reminded the parents of the need to provide education to their children by sending them to school as it is the only way they can impact the society.

“As parents, know that one day can make a difference in the lives of your children.  Never you allow them to stay at home for any reason, remember that tough times produce tough leaders” Rev. Fr. George Stated.

He appreciated parents who sent their children to CUIB last year and told them that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure that the 2017/2018 school year moves on hitch free.

Recognizing the maiden Elementary Entrepreneurial Academy- CUIB A & T, the President told the parents that the school is there to build the talents of the children in all dynamics so as to make them competitive all over the world. The school provides hands on experience to the kids most especially in the domain of STEM; Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths .

During the celebration, both the pupils of CUIB A & T and the Freshmen of CUIB, took their convocation oath to respect and work in accordance with the principles governing the Institution. .

Addressing the freshmen, the guest speaker Rev. Fr. Michel Tchoumbou Ngantchop encouraged freshmen to stay focus and committed in their learning even in the middle of the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon. He further reminded the students that in any crisis there are opportunities and students should not focus on the problems but should look at the opportunities prevalent in any situation. He reminded students that great leaders emerge from crisis and the only way to walk out of crisis or not to be affected by a crisis is to be educated.

Part III of the event was the parent’s day, were parents who had kids at the A & T and the university had a one on one experience with the teachers, deans of all the various schools of CUIB and CUIB A & T. The interactive meeting between parents and University stockholders was crowned with a tour to the various campuses of the University where parents had the chance to visit the main campus of CUIB at Wokaka and some of its Units.
