True Eagles of CUIB Transits to Alumni

The CUIB 2016 Commencement Ceremony has been recorded as one that saw the transition of the true eagles of CUIB from students to alumni powered by professional training to impact on their community. Christened “The Batch of Endurance” by President George Nkeze (Ph.D) in his introductory remarks, these 394 students were bold in the face of adversity to ensure their training as professional servant leaders.

Joining his voice to congratulate the graduands for an excellent job, the Registrar of the University of Buea Prof. Roland Ndip representing the Vice Chancellor while assuring the support of UB in ensuring the success of CUIB, challenged the graduates to translate knowledge acquired to positive actions that will lead to the development of their country. On his part, Francis B. Mbongue B, a highly motivated entrepreneur and business development professional speaking at the ceremony as key note speaker , encouraged the graduands to follow their dreams, take action, enjoy failure as part of the journey and above all put God at the center of their actions. .

Happening at a time when schools have been shut down due to the Cameroon Anglophone crisis, President George Nkeze while making reference to the Apostolic Constitution “Ex Corde Ecclesiae” issued by Pope John Paul II in 1990, clarified the status of a Catholic University as one that stands for standards, character, faith, service to the community, academic autonomy and freedom and by its very nature is apolitical, non-partisan and neutral. He went further to appreciate current students of the university who despite the turbulent academic year 2016/2017, are determined to learn beyond the classroom even when schools are shut down in the Anglophone Regions of Cameroon. .

The 2016 valedictorian Miss Watche Gael, graduand from the School of Engineering, in her address to the university on behalf of the graduating class, applauded CUIB management and team for the exceptional training accorded to them. The event which took place at the CUIB Commencement ground under the theme “What Excellence Looks and Feels Like” is the third commencement ceremony of the institution. This year’s Commencement Exercises ran for three days starting with volunteerism activities to the community, the Commencement Mass and then the Commencement Ceremony which witnessed the presence of over 1000 participants. .
